Seth Knoepler, Ph.D. May 2016
I

’ve been a California Licensed Psychologist (PSY14235) and Clinical Social Worker (LCS14392) for more than 20 years. A native New Yorker, I’ve lived in California since 1977 and in the Bay Area since 1995. Postgraduate training in psychological testing and assessment gives me access to tools which can help to pinpoint problems more quickly and accurately.

I’m practical and direct (I am from New York). However, the key to providing effective help is listening carefully while you help me learn about the things that make your situation and challenges different. By paying close attention to your unique circumstances, I can help you identify key problems and focus your attention on the things that are holding you back or slowing you down.

I see most of my clients in my office at 415 Cambridge Avenue in Palo Alto, where I’ve practiced since 1996. (Cambridge is one block from the California Avenue shopping district, Palo Alto’s “second downtown.”) There is plenty of free off-street parking in several nearby public lots and parking structures. The California Avenue Caltrain station and bus lines on El Camino are within easy walking distance.

Appointments available days and evenings.

Availability

I am usually busy meeting with clients until around 7 PM. I can almost always be reached by phone, voicemail, or text message (same number) and you are always welcome to reach out to me via email, which I usually check at least once each day. However, I don’t provide clinical services via these media, which can be useful ways to communicate factual information about new and already scheduled appointments. While I understand that last minute emergencies sometimes happen, please do your best to give me several days advance notice if you will not be able to keep an appointment. If an emergency arises where you think I may be able to be helpful, please feel free to reach out – I will get back to you as soon as I can. However, if you don’t hear back from me right away you should proceed without delay to the nearest hospital emergency room or urgent care center.

Policies

I participate in the “preferred provider” programs of several insurance companies. When I do, my name can usually be found on the list of the company’s affiliated providers. If that is the case, your insurance company will decide how much I will be paid and how much of that you will be responsible for. I will submit claims directly to them and let you know as soon as I hear back. I will also submit claims even if I’m not among your insurance company’s preferred providers, though in that case I am not obliged to go along with whatever amount the company thinks is “reasonable,” which will be determined according to the terms of your policy. I will, however, make every effort to make sure that you can afford to get the help that you need.
